Totally non-institutional, both locations have recliners, easy-chairs, and couches. Clients will feel the warmth of our staff, as well as, the warmth of their surroundings.
Reason #9 Easily Accessible
With two locations in the south suburbs of Chicago, Crestwood and Glenwood, we are easily accessed by taking I-294. For Crestwood, take the Cicero Ave exit (South); drive .8 miles and you will see our center on your left, across from the Hampton Inn. For Glenwood, take the Halsted St exit (South); drive 1.4 miles and you will see our center on your left, in the professional building with the green awnings.
Reason #8 Transportation Available
If there is a need, reasonably priced transportation to and from our centers is available to our client families. All our buses are air conditioned and wheelchair accessible.
Reason #7 Great Food
Each day we serve breakfast, lunch and an afternoon snack that meets or exceeds federal and state guidelines. Our noontime meal is made fresh daily and delivered to our centers by the Country House Restaurant (Crestwood, IL), a trusted food service/caterer that has been in business for over 25 years. Each meal is freshly plated, appropriately portioned, and served with love and care by our staff.
Reason #6 Nursing Care
With on-site RNs and LPNs, client care is first and foremost. Vital signs are routinely taken; and medications can be administered, if needed. An individualized Plan of Care is created for each client, in collaboration with the client’s family and/or social service agency, ensuring that the client’s needs are always taken into consideration.
Reason #5 Activity Program
Having something to do besides watching TV; getting out of the house; not being alone; having the camaraderie of others — that’s an all natural, drug free anti-depressant!!!
With over 100 activities available for client participation, there’s always something to do for all our clients regardless of their level of capability. From BINGO to fitness sessions, we strive to keep our clients sharp mentally and physically, as much as possible.
Reason #4 Well-Trained Staff
Among Friends’ staff are trained to provide service to our clients with Respect, Understanding, and Love. With 24 hours of initial training and additional quarterly in-service sessions, our employees endeavor to give each of our clients the individualized, sensitive care required to bring out the client’s potential — even if it’s only a smile!
Also, every one of our employees undergoes a criminal background check and is required to be current in CPR and First Aid.
Reason #3 Affordable
Part-time and full-time daily rates are available. More importantly, however, if your loved one qualifies, the cost for services and/or transportation may be partially or fully paid by the State of Illinois under the Illinois Dept on Aging’s Community Care Program. We will gladly direct you to the proper agencies to assist you.
