Nutritious Meals
Meal planning is an especially important aspect
to the health and vibrancy of our clients. Our food program manager,
in coordination with a certified nutritionist, has developed an excellent
menu for our guests. Each day we serve breakfast, lunch and an afternoon
snack that meets or exceeds federal and state guidelines.
Our noontime meal is made fresh daily, strictly for our centers, by the Country
House Restaurant (Crestwood, IL). Based on a five-week rotation, our quality
menu consists of meals such as baked fish, meatloaf, beef goulash, spinach
lasagna, chef salad, and chicken parmesan. Each meal is freshly plated, appropriately portioned,
and served with love by our staff.
As best we can, we try to accommodate those clients
with special dietary requirements. We ask the restaurant to keep salt levels low; and
for our diabetics, we provide natural and/or no sugar added products.
In the event there is a diet restriction and the guest cannot consume
the meal of the day, we either provide appropriate substitutions or
make arrangements with the family.
First and foremost, meals should be a time for nourishment, enjoyment and even
celebration. Although we encourage client independence, our staff helps by
cutting certain food items into bite-sized pieces or by feeding the client, if
needed.
We always keep the safety and health of our guests first and consult with our
client families, as necessary.
Fitness Program
Physical fitness is not just good for the body,
but also good for the mind. These experiences give our guests a renewed
image of themselves, providing more flexibility, self-confidence and
social interaction.
Our fitness program was created by
a
certified fitness instructor who put together a program for our guests, which is
suitable to help increase strength and flexibility. It is important
to note that the program is meant to give our guests both a feeling
of well-being and self-worth.
All programs, activities and personal health
aid are provided with respect, sensitivity and understanding.
